COVID-19 Stringency Index New Codebook

COVID-19 Stringency Index NEW Codebook (as of July 1, 2021)

For each measure, we evaluate the level of stringency based on the coding scheme below. Each measure also includes a separate binary variable indicating whether the measure is applicable to the whole province (coded as 1) or just to some regions (coded as 0). This ā€œflagā€ is then considered when calculating the overall stringency of a provinceā€™s response.

For more on how the Stringency Index is calculated see theĀ methodology developedĀ by theĀ Oxford Universityā€™s COVID-19 Government Response Tracker.
